What to ask before you pay for a mattress

Write down the amount you would actually pay. Then ask whether delivery is inside it, and whether taking the old mattress away is inside it. A lower sticker that leaves those out is not a lower cost.

Ask how many nights you can sleep on the mattress before you decide, and who pays if you send it back. Those terms are the seller's. This site does not keep a table of them, because they change and they were not copied from a shop contract for this page.

Ignore a crossed-out higher price. It is not evidence that the lower figure is a discount. Compare the amount you would pay.

If you sleep hot, ask what the core is and whether you can return the mattress if it feels warm. This site has not heat-tested any mattress, and it does not rank foam against coils.
